A KFC customer was appalled to find a raw chicken heart after buying a dinner at the fast food restaurant in Australia.
Timothy, 21, bought the Original Tenders Box from a Melbourne branch of KFC last week where he made the horrifying discovery of the slimy organ hidden in his meal.
The heart had been coated in KFC's bread-crumb mix and had been placed alongside other chicken tenders.
"It was crumbed and in the box, noticed that it wasn't right and the skin was peeling off so could see it was black underneath. When I took off the skin at first, I had no idea what it was," he told Daily Mail Australia.
Outraged by his discovery, Timothy took picture of the chicken heart and posted it to KFC's Australia Facebook page.
He wrote: "Uhh KFC can you explain to me why in the world I would be getting what looks like a chicken heart in my food?', he wrote.
"Is it common for you guys to do this or am I just lucky?"
Facebook users were predictably shocked by Timothy's find and voiced their disgust.
One former KFC cook accused staff of being too lazy to "follow correct procedures" while another said that it "looked like the bits from under the thigh that you're expected to scoop out."
Timothy says he is a regular at the Narre Warren KFC branch in Melbourne's south-east and eats there every two weeks.
However, he now says he will think again about ever stepping foot in side the fast food restaurant.
KFC Australia has apologised to Timothy over the incident and have reminded their team to take extra care when they are preparing customers' meals.
"Our chicken is hand-prepared and cooked fresh, but occasionally mistakes happen and organs are not removed when they should have been," a KFC spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia.
"We have provided the customer with a refund and are reminding our team to take extra care."
