Rubble has been with owner Michele Foster since she picked him as a newborn kitten in May 1988.
And the elderly feline celebrated the milestone with a party and a free check-up at his local vet’s.
Rubble, a Maine Coon cat, is the equivalent of 137 human years.
The previous oldest in Britain was Nutmeg from Tyne and Wear who died last year at 32.
Rubble is the same age as Scooter, a Siamese in Texas, named as a record breaker at 30 by the Guinness Book of World Records.
Scooter died in 2016. Michele, 50, who also lives with Persian cats Harley, Woody and Ted, said: “Rubble’s a lovely cat, although he has got a little grumpy in his old age.
“I got him just before my 20th birthday when he was a kitten. He has plenty of life left in him yet and is very loyal.”
Michele, of Exeter, Devon, added: “If you care about something, no matter what it is, it does last.”
The oldest cat ever was Creme Puff from Texas, who died in 2005 aged 38.
